New Benches for Abram’s Park

Super Hero(s): Trey Hardin, Scout Troops 157 & 1157 and David Vardaman

The Eagle Scout project for park benches at Abram’s park is complete! Seven new benches were constructed and installed. This work was completed by Trey Hardin, who is working on his Eagle Scout rank, along with scouts from Boy Scout Troop 157 and Troop 1157 ( the premier girls troop for Scouts, Boy Scouts of America in Niceville, FL).

Abram Sitcer, the 12 year old for whom the park is named, was a Boy Scout. When Abram’s Park opened in 2021, the Scouts participated in the grand opening event. At that time, they asked David Vardaman, the park project manager, if there were potential projects worth of Eagle Scout consideration.

The park was financed through Okaloosa County and community members such as residents, civic clubs, North Bay firefighters and businesses. A GoFundMe campaign hosted by the community raised more than $30,000 and the excess funds will help maintain the bathrooms.

We appreciate the Dave’s continued hard work for Bluewater Bay as well as the hard work by all the scouts who provided the time and labor to complete this project. We will enjoy those beautiful benches for many years to come.
